The curriculum of our department has been prepared in such a way that at least 30% of it is in English. Nearly 50% of the courses in our curriculum are taught in English.
Since 50% of our curriculum consists of English courses, students who are admitted to our department are required to take an English proficiency exam at the beginning of the semester. Students who pass the exam can start the department without attending the preparatory program, while those who fail must successfully complete a one-year English preparatory program before starting.
In our department, the Marmara Physics Club, founded by our students, has been active for many years. At the university level, there are a total of 133 student clubs where students can participate in scientific, social, and artistic activities. Through the "Research Areas" section in the menu on the left, you can access ongoing research projects in our department as well as the related faculty members.
Students can take part in research conducted in the laboratories, exchange ideas with faculty members about topics they are interested in, and even publish a scientific article related to their work.
Our department has 7 teaching laboratories and 8 research laboratories.
Yes, there are double major and minor opportunities. Students who meet the requirements can apply for double major and minor programs either within the faculty or in other faculties. You can find detailed information in the "Double Major/Minor Opportunities" section in the menu on the left.
To apply for a double major program, your GPA must be at least 3.00. Applications are submitted during the week before course registration at the beginning of the 3rd and 5th semesters of the major undergraduate program.
The Physics Department is located within the Faculty of Science at the Göztepe Campus.

Yes, there is a cafeteria on our campus that serves two meals daily: lunch and dinner. Both regular and vegetarian menu options are available. In addition, there are 3 cafés on campus where students can meet their dining needs: one next to the main entrance, one under the preparatory building, and one under the Faculty of Business Administration.
Students who meet the requirements can study abroad through Erasmus (for European countries) and Mevlana (for Turkey and all other countries worldwide) exchange programs. Details can be found under the "Exchange Programs" section in the Undergraduate Program menu on the left.
To advance to the next year, your GPA must be at least 1.80. Otherwise, you cannot proceed to the next year and must retake the courses you failed in the previous year.
To take upper-year courses, your GPA must be at least 3.00, and you can take a maximum of 3 courses.
There are 2 female dormitories on the Göztepe campus. The first is the Özmen Aktar Female Student Dormitory, with a capacity of 342 students. The second is the Handan Ertuğrul Female Student Dormitory, with a capacity of 72 students. Outside the campus, especially in Kadıköy, there are many female and male student dormitories, most of which are very convenient in terms of transportation to our campus. Yes, our campus has an indoor sports hall, a fitness center, a football field, a volleyball court, and a basketball court.
