Prospective Students
Why Marmara Physics?
Our department provides a curriculum delivered 50% in English, combining both theoretical and practical training. It is almost impossible to pursue physics or any academic scientific research without English. Moreover, if you wish to work in a scientific or technological field, having a strong command of English is one of the essentials. If your English is not sufficient, our university provides a one-year preparatory program to bring you up to the required level.
Our department implements a modern and up-to-date curriculum in line with international standards. The program has been structured within the Bologna Process. Through a wide range of elective courses addressing diverse interests, the program aims to improve both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students.
Research, teaching, and educational activities are carried out by a young, dynamic, and highly respected academic staff who have studied at leading universities around the world. The close and individual attention our faculty members give to students distinguishes the Marmara Physics Department from many other physics departments. Students, if they meet the necessary requirements, can pursue a minor or double major in different fields (such as engineering). In addition, within the scope of the Erasmus+ program, they also have the opportunity to study for one or two semesters at our partner universities in Europe.
Our graduates who choose an academic career are readily accepted into postgraduate programs at many prestigious universities both in Turkey and abroad. Graduates also find employment in a wide variety of private sector institutions with the knowledge and skills gained through their physics education. With the development of technology and the resulting needs, our graduates have recently been able to find jobs particularly easily in the field of software.
Through two different student clubs, our students organize joint events with physics departments from other universities, and develop projects in defense industry fields by participating in competitions such as Teknofest. If they wish, our students can also develop TÜBİTAK-BİDEB 2209-A student projects under the supervision of our experienced faculty.
For our senior students who prefer to pursue a professional career, there are also various internship opportunities available.
Within our department, students and faculty members together take part in social and scientific activities such as chess tournaments, football, volleyball, basketball matches, and camps for astronomical observations.
